Hajime Ōkuni

Aikikai Foundation 5th dan (Osaka Aikijuku member)
Born in 1963, he graduated from the same university as Suma shihan, but as a student he was very interested in cars and motorcycles, and had nothing to do with aikido. He had to move alone to Shikoku for his job at 39, and that is when he started training at a local dojo. He was taught by Tanimoto shihan, a student of the late Sayanagi shihan. When he returned to Osaka on business, he met Suma shihan and became his student, studying aikido daily. He also met Suma shihan's teacher, the late Masando Sasaki shihan, who had a strong impact on his own way of living. Presently he continues to study and devote himself to aikido in his hometown of Wakayama, under the guidance of Shirakami shihan. He values posture and maai, which are the fundamentals of life and practice, and he would like to accumulate more training experience in order to enhance his sensitivity as a person. Whenever time permits, he also practices at the “Hajimekai”, a place for self-improvement.
